According to the official SJSU Wireless Laptop Project website, the Wireless Laptop Project is an Academic Technology initiative funded through a lottery grant. A document provided by Mary Fran Breiling, director of the Wireless Laptop Pilot Project states that all participants, faculty and students have a laptop and access to Internet on campus.

The university’s mission in the project is to create a dynamic and collaborative educational environment, the Web site reads, and is evidence that SJSU is committed to preparing its students for leadership positions in the changing world.

All classrooms in the Schools of Art and Design, Journalism and Mass Communications, Child and Adolescent Development, Communicative Disorders and Educational Leadership have access to the Internet and network resources through a wireless network.

As of the Fall Semester 2003, students will bring laptops to classes as required instructional material, says the official SJSU Wireless Laptop Project website (http://www.sjsu.edu/wireless/about/background/).
